The Basics of Roulette

Roullete

Roulette is a casino game that’s popular in casinos worldwide. It has been around since the 17th century, and is still one of the most played games at casino tables.

In the game of Roullete, players place chips on a betting mat, laying them down on specific numbers on the table map. Once the wheel is spun and the ball lands on one of the numbers, the player wins.

There are two types of roulette games – American and European. The European version is the more common and usually offers higher payouts than the American one, but it has a larger house edge.

A roulette wheel consists of a spinning disk with divisions, or pockets, painted alternately red and black. The divisions are numbered nonconsecutively from 1 to 36 on a European-style wheel, and 0 and 00 on an American wheel.

The roulette wheel’s rim is slightly convex in shape and has metal partitions called separators or frets. There are thirty-six of these compartments, arranged in a seemingly random pattern.

To spin the wheel, a dealer drops a small ball that moves around the rim of the disk. The ball stops once it lands in one of the divisions. The dealer then announces the winning number.

There are several types of roulette bets, including inside and outside bets. In the game of roulette, players can bet on single numbers, various groupings of numbers, the color red or black, odd or even, and high (19-36) or low (1-18).

Some roulette bets have better odds than others, but all are based on luck. For instance, the chance of winning a single-number bet is 37 to 1, but if you bet on the combination of numbers, you’ll win 35 to 1.

The rules for betting on the color are also simple and based on pure luck. To bet on the color, you need to select a red or black chip and place it on the number you want.

Another type of bet is a 3-number bet, referred to as a “street” bet. This bet can be placed on any street (row of three numbers) on the map.

Another special bet on roulette is a 5-number bet called “neighbours”. It covers a certain number and 2 neighbouring numbers. This bet is a great way to win big if you’re lucky enough. But, of course, you’ll need to learn the rules for it first!
